What you will do

• Lead the migration of database workloads to AWS managed services, primarily Amazon RDS for SQL Server and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Plan and execute technical delivery of lift-and-shift and re-platform migrations using AWS DMS and SCT.
• Architect AWS managed database environments with multi-AZ high availability, automated failover, and RDS Proxy.
• Implement and maintain database infrastructure as code using Terraform and integrate it into CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage database resiliency, performance, and availability using AWS observability tools and Datadog.
• Mentor junior and mid-level DBAs on cloud-first AWS patterns and engineering practices.

Requirements

• Experience: 10–12 years of overall DBA experience, with 3–5 years specifically in AWS managed services production environments.
• Proven track record with Amazon RDS for SQL Server and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in AWS DMS, SCT, and Terraform for infrastructure provisioning.
• Expertise in AWS security: Secrets Manager, IAM database authentication, KMS, and VPC isolation.
• Working knowledge of AWS observability tools (CloudWatch, RDS Performance Insights, DevOps Guru).
• Bachelor's degree in IT/Science or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to have

• AWS Certified Database Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional.
• Experience with Aurora Serverless v2, DynamoDB Streams, or event-driven data architecture.
• Familiarity with the Strangler Fig pattern for database modernization.
• Expertise in AWS cost optimization strategies (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans).
