What you will do

• Design and implement new software components, products, or services to improve operational efficiency of the AWS network.
• Identify and resolve challenging systems, process, and tooling issues to enhance customer experience.
• Perform thorough root cause analysis for technical issues and implement long-term fixes to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain and improve services end-to-end, focusing on troubleshooting and root cause identification.
• Develop automation and tools to reduce manual operations and streamline network management.
• Design and implement testing, monitoring, and validation improvements to ensure continuous deployment with minimal interruption.

Requirements

• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
• Relevant experience in software development, systems engineering, SRE, or DevOps roles.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices across the full SDLC, including coding standards and source control.
• Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP).
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals, including host networking, storage, and Linux operating systems.
• Must be based in or able to work from London or Thames Valley, UK

Nice to have

• Experience designing, developing, or operating cloud services on AWS or another cloud platform.
• Strong proficiency with Python.
