What you will do

• Source and evaluate new physical science opportunities for Origins, assessing scientific differentiation, commercial viability, and platform fit.
• Track and translate materials science, chemistry, energy systems, and advanced manufacturing trends into actionable opportunity views.
• Match platform technologies and process innovations to application areas using technical rationale, competitive landscape, and unmet need.
• Build and own market sizing, end-market demand, and deal economic models to support go/no-go decisions.
• Develop early commercial theses and specifications for candidate assets in partnership with Science, Product, and Corporate Development.
• Conduct primary/secondary research (expert interviews, competitor tracking, customer and supply chain analysis) and shape deal structures with Corporate Development.

Requirements

• 7+ years in new product planning, commercial assessment, asset strategy, or business development in materials, specialty chemicals, energy technology, deep tech, or physical science investing; proven track record of shaping go/no-go calls on early-stage assets.
• Strong scientific literacy across physical sciences (materials, chemistry, physics, or advanced manufacturing) with ability to engage experts and translate technical nuance into commercial implications.
• Demonstrated ability to connect platform technologies to application areas, with a clear point of view on technical fit, unmet need, and competitive landscape.
• Hands-on modeling experience across market sizing, demand forecasting, and deal economics; ability to build models from scratch and defend assumptions.
• Strong written and verbal communication to distill complex scientific and commercial analysis into crisp recommendations for senior leadership.
• Comfort building structure in ambiguous spaces with limited oversight and strong instincts for bringing clarity.
