What you will do

• Define the engineering vision and translate corporate strategy into a measurable roadmap and operating plan.
• Coach engineering leaders and optimize organizational structure to improve speed, ownership, and quality.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Board-level stakeholders to align priorities and manage technical trade-offs.
• Drive operational excellence by enhancing resilience, observability, and regulatory compliance.
• Modernize delivery practices through the integration of AI, automation, and DevOps.
• Oversee key external integrations and manage vendor partnerships for high-quality capabilities.

Requirements

• Must be based in the UK and able to work from the Manchester office at least 50% of the time.
• Proven experience leading software engineering organizations in complex, high-scale environments.
• Expertise in cloud-native architectures, DevOps, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Strong track record of shaping technology strategy and delivering high-quality outcomes through governance.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence at the Board level.
• Experience within FCA regulated financial services is highly valued.

Nice to have

• Technical proficiency in .NET, Angular, React, or Vue.
• Deep experience with AWS or equivalent cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of microservices and API design.
