TL;DR
Head of Quality and Accreditation: Leading quality assurance and accreditation support for GCSE and A-level qualification development with an accent on regulatory compliance, right-first-time accreditation, and cross-subject alignment. Focus on designing scalable quality assurance frameworks, reviewing complex qualification deliverables (specifications, assessment strategies, and Specimen Assessment Materials), and reducing rework while enabling pace without compromising quality.
Location: Guildford (Hybrid: 2 days per week in the office)
Salary: £72,000–£80,000 (Manchester) or £75,000–£83,000 (Guildford, London, Milton Keynes)

What you will do
- Lead quality assurance and accreditation support across qualification development outputs, including specifications, assessment strategies, and Specimen Assessment Materials (SAMs).
- Ensure complete alignment across deliverables before submission and drive a “right first time” approach to reduce rework and resubmission.
- Design, implement, and continuously refine robust, proportionate, scalable quality assurance approaches for qualification development at scale.
- Strengthen cross-subject alignment and embed design principles across the qualification suite, including digital assessment and accessibility considerations.
- Engage with Ofqual and support accreditation activity, including representing externally when required.
- Lead and develop a small specialist team, providing direction and coaching while influencing quality practices across the organisation.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience working within regulatory frameworks, ideally in qualification development or accreditation.
- Subject matter expertise in qualification design, quality, and accreditation, including experience developing or assuring qualification materials.
- Proven experience designing and implementing quality assurance approaches (not only operating within existing processes).
- Track record reviewing specifications, assessment strategies, and specimen materials in a regulated environment, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to provide clear, practical, actionable feedback and apply quality standards consistently with a proportionate approach.
- Demonstrated leadership and line-management experience.
