Planning Analyst

TL;DR

Planning Analyst (Production Planning/MRP): Plan and coordinate production activities to meet customer demand with an accent on production scheduling, KPI monitoring, and resolving scheduling conflicts across departments. Focus on MRP/ERP/SAP expertise, program plan updates, and analyzing part requirements and progress to support manufacturing and program management.

Location: Torrance, CA (Onsite)

Salary: $90,000.00–$115,000.00 annually

What you will do

• Maintain production schedules aligned with customer orders, forecasts, and inventory levels while accommodating maintenance and downtime.
• Monitor planning KPIs and recommend actions to leadership to improve planning alignment.
• Collaborate with Production, Program Management, and Supply Chain to optimize workflow and resolve scheduling conflicts.
• Serve as an expert on MRP/ERP/SAP and support system changes and integrations, including setting planning flags.
• Analyze part requirements, orders, schedules, reschedules, and expedite assigned items using MRP/data outputs.
• Prepare and update reports/action plans for manufacturing and program stakeholders; present information as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Industrial Management with at least 2 years’ experience as a Production Planning Analyst (or equivalent: associate’s degree with 8 years manufacturing experience; 2 years as a Program Analyst minimum).
• Obtain a security clearance or have the ability to obtain one.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to present data in charts/run charts and distributions.
• Proficiency with advanced Excel functions (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
• Experience with production planning in a manufacturing/machine shop environment.
• Ability to work with conflicting objectives (maximum shipments vs. minimum inventories) and strong human relations skills.
