Salary: $160,000 - $180,000 a year

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate services and infrastructure for the control plane.
• Take end-to-end ownership from design through production rollout and monitoring.
• Optimize platform reliability, performance, and scalability across services and the data layer.
• Perform database tuning, including query and index optimization for MongoDB.
• Collaborate with SRE and application teams to maintain a zero-downtime SLA.
• Mentor peers through code and design reviews to improve overall engineering quality.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems.
• Strong proficiency in Java or Python.
• Experience with distributed systems, including debugging, profiling, and incident response.
• Solid understanding of databases (Relational or NoSQL) and schema design.
• B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Must be based in or able to commute to San Mateo, CA for a hybrid schedule.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with MongoDB at scale (sharding, replica sets).
• Experience with AWS, containers, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with SRE practices and observability tools (metrics, tracing, logs).
