Legal Counsel (ETF)

TL;DR

Legal Counsel (ETF): Managing legal aspects of APAC ETF businesses, including regulatory compliance, fund documentation, and cross-border structuring with an accent on regulatory liaison and risk management. Focus on providing strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders and ensuring alignment with global ETF legal standards.

Location: Must be based in Hong Kong (Hybrid: 4 days in office, 1 day remote).

What you will do

• Act as the primary legal contact for APAC ETF businesses, including local ETFs and cross-listings.
• Draft, review, and update prospectuses, fund documents, and service provider agreements.
• Liaise with regulators and exchanges for ETF-related approvals and ongoing legal matters.
• Advise on ETF structuring and launch in compliance with local and international frameworks.
• Partner with global and regional business teams including product development, sales, and compliance.
• Monitor and advise on regulatory developments affecting ETF marketing and distribution in APAC.

Requirements

• Qualified solicitor in Hong Kong with 5+ years of PQE in a law firm or in-house role.
• Strong background in ETF, funds, or asset management.
• Fluent in English and Chinese (spoken and written).
• Direct experience engaging with regulators and exchanges in APAC markets.
• Ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of UCITS regulations.
• Experience advising on cross-border ETF passporting regimes.
