Staff Software Engineer (Identity & Access Management)

Location: Bellevue, Washington, United States

Base pay range: $180,000–$270,000 USD annually, depending on compensation zone and location. Additional bonus, equity, and benefits are available.

What you will do

• Define and build the architecture for employee, service, non-human, and agentic access across company-wide resources.
• Design, build, and operate highly available, resilient, and observable Tier-0 identity infrastructure using Go, Python, Rust, or comparable systems languages.
• Implement authentication and authorization solutions using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, RBAC, ABAC, and policy-based access controls.
• Develop secure identity, governance, access-policy, and observability guardrails for AI agents, LLM applications, and MCP systems.
• Build automated self-service platforms for requesting, approving, provisioning, and auditing access.
• Set technical direction, write architectural proposals, mentor engineers, and drive initiatives with Infrastructure, Data, and Security teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend or security platform engineering experience building systems at scale.
• Experience designing and building security platforms, access-management control planes, or identity infrastructure from the ground up.
• Strong knowledge of identity primitives, least-privilege access, and protocols including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, or WebAuthn.
• Experience implementing role-based, policy-based, or attribute-based access controls for human and machine workloads.
• Experience with security guardrails, access policies, or governance for AI agents, LLMs, or non-human workloads.
• Experience operating high-availability, high-throughput Tier-0 infrastructure in cloud-native environments such as AWS and Kubernetes, plus leading cross-functional technical initiatives.

• Experience with cryptography, PKI, and certificate lifecycle management.
• Experience implementing zero-trust architecture.
