TL;DR

Staff Software Engineer (Security): Leading the design and evolution of identity, authentication, and authorization systems for a high-scale financial platform with an accent on secure access patterns and certificate lifecycle management. Focus on guiding technical direction for backend services, integrating security into AI-driven workflows, and ensuring system reliability and performance.

Location: Must be based in Bellevue, WA (Hybrid: 3 days per week in-office).

Salary: $230,000–$270,000 USD (Base pay for Zone 1).

What you will do

  • Design and build authentication and authorization systems for internal and customer-facing applications.
  • Lead technical direction for access management platforms, ensuring scalability and low latency.
  • Develop secure access patterns and monitoring for AI and machine learning workflows.
  • Maintain certificate lifecycle management and public key infrastructure with high observability.
  • Partner with infrastructure, product, and data teams to integrate secure access controls across the platform.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in backend or security systems, specifically in identity and access management.
  • Proficiency with authentication protocols including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, or WebAuthn.
  • Strong programming skills in Go, Python, or Rust.
  • Experience operating distributed systems in environments like Kubernetes and AWS.
  • Ability to guide technical decisions and mentor engineers through design discussions and code reviews.
  • Must be able to work from the Bellevue, WA office at least 3 days per week.
