Director, Travel & Expense (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; candidates in other locations may also be considered.

Salary: $167,600–$288,100 USD per year, depending on pay zone, experience, certifications, and work location. Additional compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the transformation of the global travel and expense program into a digital-first, automated operating model.
• Improve booking, expense submission, approvals, reimbursements, traveler support, and employee experience while reducing manual work.
• Manage global business travel operations, regional strategies, travel partners, suppliers, corporate cards, and expense reimbursement programs.
• Implement AI auditing, receipt automation, intelligent policy enforcement, automated controls, dashboards, and KPI-driven change management.
• Own the T&E technology ecosystem, including Emburse, Egencia, Ramp, Brex, AppZen, corporate card integrations, APIs, and analytics.
• Partner with Finance, Procurement, IT, HR, Security, AP, Payroll, and Operations while leading a high-performing global team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Supply Chain, Hospitality, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Travel, Expense, Procurement, Finance Operations, Shared Services, or related functions.
• Experience leading global or multinational T&E programs, regional operations, and cross-border transformation initiatives.
• Deep expertise in T&E platforms, workflow automation, corporate card programs, expense technologies, and scalable service delivery.
• Strong understanding of AI-enabled operations, process redesign, financial controls, compliance, and change leadership.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate strategy into scalable execution.

Nice to have

• MBA, CPA, CTP, or a related certification.
• Lean Six Sigma, automation, or digital transformation experience.
