TL;DR
HSE Lead (Inverness): Provide on-site HSSE support and strategic guidance for multiple electricity Transmission and Distribution projects across northern Scotland with an accent on Health & Safety, Security, and Environment assurance, incident investigations, and HSSE management plan implementation. Focus on reducing operational risk through legislation- and client-aligned advice, leading corrective/preventative actions, and delivering HSSE performance reporting and client HSSE focal support.
Location: Inverness region, northern Scotland (on-site visits across Scotland; includes home-working)

What you will do
- Provide strategic advice, guidance, and support on Project HSSE matters aligned to legislation, company policy, management system, and client requirements.
- With the T&D UK HSSE Manager, roll out company HSSE objectives and develop project-specific HSSE objectives as needed.
- Lead HSSE campaigns and initiatives; monitor industry best practice to support HSSE development.
- Lead Level 1 incident investigations and support Level 2 investigations, producing SMART corrective/preventative actions and lessons learned.
- Undertake visits to project facilities and worksites, providing constructive reviews of HSSE status and developing/ensuring HSSE Management Plans.
- Deliver leading/lagging indicator analysis, provide performance reports to project management and the T&D UK HSSE Manager, and act as an HSSE focal point for clients (including training and mentorship for new HSSE recruits).
Requirements
- Be based in the Inverness region and be able to travel to project facilities and worksites around Scotland for on-site support and assurance activities.
- Lead/Senior HSE Advisor experience with project and corporate experience in transmission and distribution (Overhead Lines, Underground Cabling and Civils preferred).
- Excellent working knowledge of UK legislation.
- Ability to develop and maintain management systems and produce detailed investigation reports with causal factors, root causes, and corrective/preventative actions.
- Strong communication skills (written and spoken) to work effectively with workforce, business management, HSSE management, and clients.
- ISO 45001 Lead Auditor qualification and incident investigation training (Level 4 Certificate in Health & Safety minimum; Level 6 Diploma desirable).
