Firmware Engineer (Optical DSP)

What you will do

• Develop embedded C firmware for controlling digital signal processing hardware.
• Build C and Python test code for utilities, graphical interfaces, regression testing, and simulation infrastructure.
• Take features from concept through design, review, implementation, testing, and customer release.
• Debug complex hardware and software issues, identify root causes, and coordinate resolution with hardware and software teams.
• Support software components for optical communication chips from laboratory bring-up through field deployment.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software, Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience with C and Python.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, from the OSI model through the physical and data-link layers.
• Experience with software development workflows, issue tracking, source control, code reviews, continuous integration, and regression testing.
• Ability to work onsite from the Pavia office five days per week.

Nice to have

• Embedded firmware development experience.
• Knowledge of Git, Linux, makefiles, GDB, IDEs, and Bash.
• Experience with Jira, GitLab, Jenkins, and regression testing workflows.
• Understanding of DSP concepts such as equalizers, filters, ADC, DAC, FFE, DFE, and PAM modulation.
