What you will do

• Own and evolve the architecture of high-performance, highly available MySQL platforms.
• Build database solutions that support long-term data growth, fault tolerance, and operational simplicity.
• Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve database performance bottlenecks.
• Improve and maintain automation for database provisioning, backup, recovery, and failover.
• Define and enforce database security standards, access controls, and auditing.
• Mentor engineers and DBAs to raise the overall database maturity of the organization.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the UK on a full-time basis without visa sponsorship.
• Significant production experience with MySQL in critical environments.
• Deep expertise in MySQL internals, replication, backup/recovery, and query optimization.
• Strong Linux administration skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Helm.

Nice to have

• Experience with MySQL clustering technologies and monitoring solutions.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially GCP (Cloud SQL) and AWS.
