Senior MySQL Database Administrator (MySQL)

Location: London, United Kingdom. Full-time role. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United Kingdom without current or future visa sponsorship.

What you will do

• Own the architecture and lifecycle of highly available MySQL platforms supporting production gaming workloads exceeding 50k QPS.
• Design for data growth, fault tolerance, operational simplicity, and long-term scalability.
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks across schemas, queries, indexes, and database configuration.
• Improve automation for provisioning, backup and recovery, replication, failover, disaster recovery, migrations, and deployments.
• Enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability with tools such as PMM, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Define security standards, access controls, auditing, reliability targets, and database governance while partnering with Architecture, Engineering, Data Science, and SRE.

Requirements

• Significant production experience operating MySQL in critical environments, including expertise in MySQL internals.
• Deep knowledge of MongoDB internals, replication, backup and recovery, query optimization, performance tuning, high availability, and scaling patterns.
• Strong Linux administration skills and experience operating databases with high efficiency and low latency.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, distributed environment and guide engineers and DBAs.
• Authorization to work in the United Kingdom without visa sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Galera Cluster, Percona PMM, PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB.
• Experience with GCP Cloud SQL and AWS.
• Infrastructure-as-Code and automation experience with Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and Cloud SQL.
