Legal Counsel (Project Finance/Debt Capital Markets)

Location: New York, United States

Salary: $150,000–$250,000 USD base salary per year, plus potential bonus, equity, and/or commission.

What you will do

• Support financing strategy and legal structuring for US projects, with additional support for EMEA projects.
• Advise Treasury and regional leadership on financing structures from the early stages of project planning.
• Negotiate credit facilities, ancillary financing documents, and customer contracts with internal business functions.
• Lead legal due diligence, coordinate tax financing diligence, and oversee external counsel, banks, and law firms.
• Drive transaction negotiations, execution workstreams, board approvals, and lender conditions precedent for drawdowns.
• Manage post-closing lender requirements, including amendments, waivers, and ongoing legal support.

Requirements

• JD and an active license in at least one US state bar required.
• 3–5+ years of relevant legal experience in project finance, real estate finance, asset finance, or a reputable in-house legal function.
• Experience with debt products and end-to-end financing transactions, including structuring, diligence, negotiation, and closing.
• Strong attention to detail, commercial judgment, and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
• Technology fluency, including the use of AI tools, PowerPoint, and Excel to streamline legal execution.
