Data Center Technician I (Infrastructure)

TL;DR

Data Center Technician I (Infrastructure): Performing cable and equipment installations and facilitating equipment moves/adds/changes within data center facilities with an accent on system infrastructure and environmental monitoring. Focus on testing copper/optical fiber installations, managing hardware assets, and resolving complex hardware and service issues.

Location: Onsite in Provo, UT (Essential worker required to report to the data center)

What you will do

• Perform data center cable and equipment installations using copper and optical fiber.
• Facilitate equipment moves, adds, and changes within raised-floor data center facilities.
• Support infrastructure environmental monitoring, administration, and audit compliance.
• Manage hardware inventory, asset tracking, and procurement processes.
• Generate quality metrics reporting and recommend process improvements.
• Conduct testing and troubleshooting for server and network hardware.

Requirements

• High School diploma.
• Experience in computer hardware troubleshooting, assembly, and component compatibility.
• Ability to lift and install equipment exceeding 40 lbs and work on ladders.
• Willingness to work off-hours and participate in on-call rotations for emergencies.
• Must be based in Provo, UT and able to report to the data center as an essential worker.

Nice to have

• 1-3 years of experience in a data center or colocation environment.
• Familiarity with MEP infrastructure (UPS systems, generators, cooling systems).
• Experience deploying various RAID levels (0, 1, 5, 6, 10).
• Knowledge of tools such as JIRA, ServiceNow, Device42, and PuTTy.
• Industry certifications like BICSI Data Center Technician or RCDD.
