What you will do

• Drive the future of data architecture as a core contributor to the Apache Iceberg open-source project.
• Implement performance improvements and new features across the hirify.global stack.
• Collaborate with product managers and customers to evolve modern data lake capabilities.
• Develop and maintain high-performance features using Java.
• Debug system-level deployment issues and perform root cause analysis on production clusters.
• Work on massive-scale distributed systems managing petabytes of data.

Requirements

• Must be eligible to work in the US without immigration sponsorship.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 6+ years of experience (or Master’s/PhD with relevant experience).
• Strong proficiency in at least one of: Java, Scala, C++, or Python.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and systems design.
• Ability to work effectively in an international and virtual team environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Nice to have

• Experience with Apache Iceberg or related big data technologies.
• Background in distributed computing or high-availability systems.
• Proven contributions to open-source projects.
• Expertise in SQL optimization and query plan analysis.
