TL;DR

Junior Associate, Legal Knowledge Engineering (Litigation) (Legal AI/Knowledge Engineering): Building and testing generative AI workflows in Kira to map lawyer workflows, extract information from document sets, and develop smart fields for securities and financing documents with an accent on prompt creation, information extraction accuracy, and ML-driven document understanding. Focus on experimenting with generative AI, creating extraction prompts, and continuously identifying opportunities to improve legal-domain automation.

Location: Toronto, ON (Office; hybrid—on-site at least three days per week)

Salary: $100,000–$135,000 CAD (Ontario applicants)

What you will do

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and design teams to shape the vision for legal tech products and features in Kira.
  • Map a lawyer’s current workflow so product and design teams understand how lawyers operate.
  • Experiment with and test generative AI to help ensure products are built to the highest standard.
  • Create prompts to enable accurate extraction of information from document sets.
  • Develop new “smart fields” and data points for documents related to securities and/or financing transactions.
  • Monitor developments in the litigation/legal domain and identify new opportunities to build and improve smart fields.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience practicing as a litigation associate (law firm, in-house, or legal service provider).
  • JD and called to the bar in at least one state/province.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and client service mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and willingness to try new approaches.
  • Reside within reasonable commuting distance of the office and be on-site at least three days per week.
