What you will do

• Lead ~20 engineers and testers across three Agile teams improving the software underlying Kobo’s eReaders.
• Provide technical leadership across delivery activities from system design through monitoring and incident response.
• Mentor and coach team members, including feedback and performance reviews, to support professional development.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Architecture to guide initiatives from conception to production.
• Continuously improve team processes and coordinate with other delivery leaders for cross-team collaboration.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a leadership role within a Software Engineering team.
• Experience managing individuals, including feedback and performance reviews.
• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, preferably in C++.
• Strong understanding of project management and practical experience with consumer software product challenges.
• Ability to communicate and bridge engineering and leadership in strategic technical discussions.
• Must be located in either Dublin, Ireland or Darmstadt, Germany.

Nice to have

• Experience with eReader or consumer electronics device development.
• Experience with embedded systems, C++, or Linux environments.
• Experience with the Qt framework or GUI development.
• Exposure to working with hardware partners or suppliers.
