Engineering Manager (Fintech)

What you will do

• Lead a team of 6-10 backend engineers, managing 1:1s, performance cycles, hiring, and professional growth.
• Participate in design reviews and architectural discussions to raise the quality of engineering choices.
• Own team-level delivery, including planning, prioritization, and removing blockers.
• Partner with product, data, and business stakeholders to shape the team's roadmap.
• Uphold and evolve standards for code quality, testing, observability, and reliability.
• Foster a diverse and inclusive team culture built on ownership and psychological safety.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing engineering teams of 6+ members in a fast-paced environment.
• Deep technical background in distributed systems using JVM (Kotlin/Java).
• Strong understanding of high-throughput Postgres and Kafka stacks.
• Proficiency in Agile methodologies and a track record of delivering complex projects.
• Familiarity with financial systems, including auditability and PCI-DSS compliance.
• Strong communication skills to translate technical constraints into product tradeoffs.
