What you will do
- Drive platform architecture decisions balancing scalability, maintainability, and rapid deployment; establish standards, patterns, and lead design reviews.
- Mentor engineers and improve engineering practices across coding standards, reviews, testing strategies, observability, incident response, and production excellence.
- Translate product and customer requirements into scalable technical solutions; collaborate with distributed teams across Ireland, the U.S., Philippines, and Australia.
- Improve development agility by eliminating bottlenecks and enhancing CI/CD, testing infrastructure, and deployment processes; lead post-mortems and retrospectives.
- Own critical systems end-to-end (design through production support), proactively prevent incidents, and make and communicate tough technical trade-offs.
- Build integrations and platform capabilities: ERP/banking API connectivity, worksheet engines, real-time dashboards, caching/aggregation, and automated compliance monitoring.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience; 3+ years delivering complex, business-critical production systems.
- Experience owning and evolving significant parts of production systems end-to-end, including on-call and handling critical incidents.
- Proven technical leadership: led designs implemented by teams of 3+ engineers and mentored 2+ engineers.
- Strong cloud and infrastructure skills: AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and observability (logging/metrics/tracing/alerting).
- Deep backend/distributed systems expertise: distributed systems patterns, message queues, multi-tenancy and data isolation, RBAC/authorization, audit logging, API versioning, feature flags, and progressive rollout.
- Core technologies: deep expertise in C#/.NET; expert relational database skills (SQL Server preferred); strong experience building RESTful APIs and frontend-adjacent React/TypeScript/JavaScript where needed.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of financial concepts (cash positioning, forecasting, liquidity management) and banking/payment systems (e.g., MT940, BAI2).
- Experience with multi-currency handling, exchange rates, and time zone date/time complexities.
- Awareness of financial compliance/regulatory requirements (e.g., SOC 2, data privacy).
- Experience integrating with third-party financial systems (banks, ERPs, payment processors).
