Staff Software Development Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; hybrid with onsite work Tuesday through Thursday each week

Starting base salary: $208,000–$260,000 per year, plus equity and additional compensation components.

What you will do

• Set the technical direction for hirify.global Business and lead multi-quarter initiatives from design through launch.
• Architect Go services, APIs, and durable money-movement workflows on Temporal, including ledgering, reconciliation, observability, and compliance gating.
• Drive service boundaries, GraphQL contracts, data models, and frontend architecture decisions for React/TypeScript applications.
• Lead design reviews, build-versus-buy decisions, technology evaluations, and the evolution of security, reliability, and observability standards.
• Establish team standards for AI-assisted, spec-driven development using tools such as Claude Code and Codex.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and shape roadmaps with Product, Design, Analytics, Compliance, Infrastructure, and Operations.

Requirements

• 7+ years of engineering experience building backend services and leading initiatives across multiple engineers or teams.
• Advanced expertise in Go, or deep experience with Java, Kotlin, C#, or a comparable language with the ability to adopt Go quickly.
• Frontend fluency sufficient to make architecture decisions in a React/TypeScript codebase, including API contracts, rendering, and state management.
• Experience designing secure, scalable, and performant cloud services, such as on AWS, and leading effective design reviews.
• Experience with AI coding agents as a daily practice and readiness to define standards for their verified use.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with workflow orchestration technologies such as Temporal, Cadence, or Step Functions.
• Payments, fintech, or money-movement experience.
• Hands-on React and TypeScript experience.
