TL;DR

Location: Must be based in or able to work from California, USA (Hybrid: 10+ days per month in-office).

Salary: $176,000 – $210,000 USD

What you will do

  • Define the target operating model and build the processes and technology for the legal, compliance, and policy functions.
  • Audit existing technology tools and develop a multi-year roadmap for matter management, CLM, e-billing, and AI-assisted workflows.
  • Drive cost rigor by enforcing billing guidelines and managing external legal spend.
  • Design and implement legal systems including intake processes, templates, and knowledge management.
  • Lead annual planning cycles, including budget and headcount management.
  • Build a legal operations dashboard to track key performance metrics like matter volume and cycle times.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in legal operations.
  • Proven track record of building or significantly transforming a legal operations function.
  • Experience leading AI, automation, or data-driven transformation initiatives within a legal department.
  • Strong data and analytics skills with a sharp eye for detail.
  • Experience managing outside counsel relationships and budgets.
  • Must be based in California, USA.
