What you will do

• Drive the Lexington fermentation strategy and roadmap for aerobic and anaerobic processing from millilitre to 10 L scales.
• Manage and mentor a diverse team of scientists and engineers within the Bioprocess Sciences Team.
• Collaborate with strain engineering and microbiome teams to develop and implement (an)aerobic fermentation protocols.
• Lead communications with internal collaborators, third parties, and strategic partners.
• Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and occupational health & safety procedures.
• Translate strain capabilities into bioprocess wins through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Requirements

• PhD with 5+ years, MSc with 10+ years, or BSc with 15+ years of experience in Fermentation Science, Biotechnology, or related fields.
• Extensive experience with bench scale anaerobic and aerobic microbial fermentation leveraging yeast, fungi, and bacteria.
• Proven industry experience in direct team leadership and project management.
• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Lexington, MA, USA.
• Experience with lab automation workflows, digital bioprocess tools, and statistical software.
• Understanding of scale-up and scale-down fermentation and downstream recovery operations.
