What you will do

• Lead R&D and process development for surface-modified substrates and functionalization processes.
• Design and optimize surface chemistries, including organosilanes, thiols/SAMs, linkers, and biomolecule immobilization.
• Perform DOE-driven optimization to define robust operating windows and control plans.
• Develop Quality Control (QC) workflows and correlate metrology data with functional performance.
• Manage troubleshooting, failure analysis, and author detailed SOPs for scalable processes.
• Prototype next-generation coatings and mentor junior staff and technicians.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field (PhD preferred).
• Industry experience: BS with 8+ years, MS with 5+ years, or PhD with 3+ years of related experience.
• Hands-on experience supporting a commercial product where surface chemistry is a key component.
• Proficiency in metrology tools: AFM, Ellipsometry, XPS, FTIR, SEM, and fluorescence microscopy.
• Experience with vapor-phase/CVD deposition and microfabrication (PVD, lithography, etch).
• Ability to perform data analysis using Python, FIJI, JMP, Matlab, or R and utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC).
