What you will do

• Design and execute experiments essential to the diagnostic team's projects and the Sabeti Lab's success.
• Develop PCR and CRISPR-based diagnostic assays specifically for point-of-care deployment.
• Expand diagnostic technologies into front-line surveillance tools for multiple pathogens in various West African countries.
• Investigate and develop new molecular methods and technologies relevant to the project.
• Maintain detailed experimental records, documentation, and written protocols.
• Collaborate with the wider diagnostic team to communicate results and troubleshoot roadblocks.

Requirements

• PhD degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related field.
• Strong proven communication and wet lab skills with the ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Interest in or previous experience developing point-of-care assays or translational technologies.
• Experience with nucleic acid isothermal amplification, molecular assay design, viral diagnostics, or CRISPR applications.
• Strong interest in work-related travel to implement technology at partner sites.
• Ability to engage collaborators and proactively identify and mitigate potential project issues.
