Описание вакансии
TL;DR
Scientist / Engineer - Research & Development (Chemistry/Polymers): Perform hands-on organic and polymer synthesis at lab scale and support development/optimization of synthetic routes with an accent on reaction setup, monitoring, work-up, purification, and yield/quality assessment. Focus on operating and maintaining analytical characterization workflows (GPC, HPLC/UPLC, NMR) while ensuring repeatable wet-lab execution, EHS-compliant lab operations, and clear documentation in electronic lab notebooks.
Location: Marlborough, 01752
Salary: $114,200–$116,500
Company
provides staffing for R&D roles in chemistry and materials development.
What you will do
- Conduct hands-on polymer and/or organic synthesis of monomers, oligomers, and polymers at lab scale (typically 100 mL–20 L) following established procedures and safety protocols.
- Support development and optimization of synthetic routes, including reaction setup, monitoring, work-up, purification, and yield/quality assessment for electronics-related applications.
- Operate and maintain analytical instruments (GPC, HPLC, UPLC, NMR), including routine calibrations and basic troubleshooting.
- Run additional characterization/testing as needed (e.g., GC, UV-Vis, FT-IR, basic thermal analysis, titrations, % solids, viscosity) and communicate results to project leaders.
- Maintain lab operations with strict adherence to EHS rules, and document experimental plans, raw data, and conclusions in electronic lab notebooks and technical reports.
- Collaborate with R&D chemists/engineers and, over time, cross-train into adjacent workstreams (e.g., filtration, formulation, dry lab, fab work) as business needs allow.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.Sc. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline (no Ph.D.).
- Hands-on experience in organic and/or polymer synthesis, including solution handling, reaction setup, and basic purification techniques.
- Hands-on experience with analytical tools such as GPC and NMR, plus at least one of HPLC or UPLC (or demonstrated ability to learn these quickly).
- Comfort working in a wet chemistry lab with safe handling of chemicals, solvents, and lab equipment.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow procedures with high repeatability.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English (written and verbal) and manage multiple tasks under guidance from senior staff.
Culture & Benefits
- Major medical, dental, and vision benefits for temporary assignments lasting 13 weeks or longer.
- 401k and statutory sick pay where required.
- Regular team meetings and collaboration with R&D chemists, engineers, and analytical colleagues.
- Reasonable accommodations available during the employment process.
Hiring process
- Employment process includes standard screening and coordination with a staffing representative.
- Role evaluation focuses on synthesis and analytical characterization experience, lab safety practices, and documentation/repeatability skills.
