Location: On-site in San Francisco (5 days/week)

Salary: $225,000 – $300,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Lead mechanical engineering execution across the full development cycle, from concept and feasibility through EVT, DVT, PVT, and ramp.
• Provide technical leadership and direction on architectural decisions spanning thermals, fluids, mechanisms, and sensing.
• Collaborate with the CPO and executive team to shape the hardware product roadmap and translate requirements into shippable architecture and build plans.
• Manage and coach a team of mechanical, soft goods, and prototype engineers, operating as a player-coach.
• Coordinate with teams and suppliers in Asia to ensure successful delivery of product goals.
• Implement systems and processes to ensure peak team efficiency, including design reviews and phase gates.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience developing complex electromechanical systems, ideally in high-volume consumer hardware.
• Proven track record of scaling products to high-volume production in Asia, including tooling and build management (EVT, DVT, PVT).
• Deep knowledge of injection molding, electronics/sensor integration, and mechanism design.
• Proficiency in thermal engineering, fluid systems, actuators, and soft goods.
• Experience leading early-stage product development, concept definition, and industrial design.
• Ability to work from the San Francisco office 5 days per week.
