What you will do

• Develop and test CAN-based telematics devices and vehicle communication software for ELD and other functions.
• Debug and modify embedded code directly on devices to resolve CAN Bus communication and integration issues.
• Troubleshoot problems across all vehicle classes (Passenger to Class 1-8) using CANalyzer and PCAN.
• Reverse engineer J1939/OBDII parameters and maintain a comprehensive library of data bus logs.
• Collaborate with Product Management to enhance telematics solutions and add proprietary ECM PIDs.
• Enable vehicle data features such as Driver Performance Monitoring and Critical Event Detection.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with commercial and passenger vehicle telematics (J1939, OBDII, UDS).
• Expertise in C/C++, microcontroller bring-up, and firmware development (USB, UART, SPI, I2C).
• Experience with RTOS or Autocar RTOS on microcontrollers such as NXP S32K311.
• Proficiency with vehicle simulators including Vector CANalyzer, AU Simulators, or Intrepid Vehicle Spy Pro.
• Ability to perform reverse engineering of vehicle data bus parameters and PIDs.
• Must be located in San Diego, CA and available for 20% travel.

Nice to have

• Ability to write Python scripts for automation or data analysis.
• Experience in diagnostics and bootloader development for Engine ECUs using UDS and ISO-TP protocols.
