TL;DR

Systems Engineer (Embedded Solutions): Designing, integrating, and troubleshooting complex access control systems with an accent on system-level diagnosis and cross-functional collaboration. Focus on isolating root causes across hardware, firmware, and software domains and validating fixes in real-world deployments.

Location: Onsite in Berlin, CT or New Haven, CT

What you will do

  • Perform deep technical diagnosis of system-level failures at customer sites to identify root causes.
  • Reproduce customer-reported issues in-house and design structured test scenarios to validate fixes.
  • Lead the integration of multi-component systems, including controllers, readers, hubs, and sensors.
  • Act as a technical bridge between global hardware/firmware engineers and local product and support teams.
  • Analyze complex failures spanning hardware, firmware, software, and mechanical domains.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong expertise in one of: electronics design (PCB, schematics), firmware development (C/C++, RTOS), or software development (Python, SQL).
  • Experience debugging and integrating across the hardware–firmware–application software boundary.
  • Working knowledge of wired protocols (TCP/IP, RS-485) and wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, Zigbee, BLE, or NFC).
  • Must be based in or able to work onsite in Berlin, CT or New Haven, CT.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites as needed.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST.
  • Prior experience in the Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) industry.
  • Familiarity with access control protocols like OSDP and Wiegand.
  • Experience collaborating with globally distributed engineering teams.
