Salary: $148,000 - $216,500 USD / $171,500 - $201,000 CAD

What you will do

• Design and operate Devices Cloud services including connectivity, telemetry ingest, state management, and data pipelines.
• Own full-cycle feature development from technical design to production for hardware-integrated systems.
• Implement AI-native engineering workflows using tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot.
• Collaborate with firmware and mobile teams to define APIs for hardware-software boundaries.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor junior engineers through code reviews and coaching.
• Participate in on-call rotations and manage high-severity incident responses.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in backend or cloud infrastructure, preferably with IoT or telematics.
• Strong proficiency with AWS (EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, Kinesis) and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants for substantive engineering tasks.
• Proven track record of leading medium-sized projects and owning complex subsystems.
• Experience with high-frequency ingest systems and streaming platforms like Kafka or Kinesis.
• Must be based in the US or Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded systems, firmware protocols (MQTT, BLE, CoAP), or SRE practices.
• Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or DataDog.
• Contributions to open-source projects or technical publications.
