Senior Data Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: Remote - US; work from anywhere in the US

Salary: $180k–$220k base salary per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and implement production-grade pipelines with Python, Spark SQL, and Airflow for high-volume CSV, Parquet, and JSON datasets.
• Canonicalize healthcare claims, EHR, partner, and customer data into internal models.
• Own pipeline lifecycles from ingestion through validated, queryable datasets, including reliability, performance, and observability.
• Onboard customers by integrating non-standard external data and collaborating with SMEs, Account Managers, Product, and customer teams.
• Build resilient, idempotent transformations with validation, schema enforcement, versioning, testing, and data quality checks.
• Tune distributed processing, monitor production pipelines, participate in on-call rotations, and develop streaming pipelines with Kafka, SQS, or similar tools.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or equivalent, building production-grade pipelines.
• Strong expertise in Python, Spark SQL, and Airflow.
• Experience processing large-scale file-based datasets and mapping raw external data into canonical models.
• Experience with AWS or another cloud platform, including file storage and distributed computing concepts.
• Experience onboarding customers and integrating external data in non-standard formats.
• Must be based in the United States; strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with healthcare data formats and concepts such as 837, 835, EHR, UB04, and claims normalization.
• Experience building or willingness to learn streaming pipelines with Kafka or SQS.
