TL;DR

Staff Backend Software Engineer (Python/TypeScript): Building and optimizing the foundational payment and clearinghouse platforms to automate insurance and revenue flow in mental healthcare with an accent on fault-tolerance, idempotency, and distributed systems. Focus on designing highly reliable integrations with Stripe and Plaid, solving complex concurrency challenges, and scaling the revenue engine.

Location: Remote (Must be based in New York or the USA)

Salary: $224,000 - $280,000 base salary

hirify.global is building a new mental healthcare system by automating insurance and billing to make therapy accessible for everyone.

What you will do

  • Lead the technical direction for the Payment Platform and Clearinghouse Platform teams.
  • Design fault-tolerant and observable integrations with Stripe, Plaid, and payer clearinghouses.
  • Build abstractions and standards to enable adjacent engineering teams to ship features faster and more safely.
  • Write high-leverage code and mentor senior engineers across multiple pods.
  • Solve complex distributed systems problems involving concurrency, idempotency, and partial failures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an end-to-end product builder with a strong focus on backend logic and API architecture.
  • Ability to own outcomes, handling ambiguous problems from definition to shipping.
  • Capacity to set high technical standards for maintainability and scale.
  • Strong mentorship skills and a commitment to sharing knowledge across the team.
  • Ability to quickly build mental models for complex domains like healthcare regulations.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US (E-Verify participant).

Nice to have

  • Experience applying LLMs to real workflows, such as code generation or operational automation.
