Cultural Resources Management (CRM) Specialist (Energy): Managing the cultural, historical, and archaeological resources component of federal and state regulated energy projects with an accent on historic preservation laws and agency compliance. Location: Remote (US), Hybrid, or Onsite (Minneapolis or Wisconsin); candidates living in the upper Midwest U.S. are preferred. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (E-Verify).
Salary: $79,400–$119,500 per year

What you will do
- Coordinate compliance with NHPA, NEPA, and state environmental regulations for energy projects.
- Support clients during agency and tribal consultation by drafting letters and materials for SHPO and Tribal officers.
- Act as the cultural resources subject matter expert for projects of varying scales, providing guidance on preservation laws.
- Conduct Phase Ia/Class I desktop reviews and draft due diligence memos.
- Manage budgets, prepare proposals, and author technical reports, including Unanticipated Discovery Plans.
- Manage client expectations regarding project deliverables, schedules, and status reporting.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cultural resources consulting with a focus on Midwestern and Southwest U.S.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (verified via E-Verify).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to research at SHPO offices.
Nice to have
- Experience with state-regulated projects (e.g., PSC, PUC, DNR).
- Experience involving tribal consultation, outreach, and relationship-building.
- Technical specialization in architectural history, human osteology, or geomorphology.
