Project Manager – Building Science

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)

Salary: CAD 80,000–95,000 per year, depending on experience

Salas O’Brien provides engineering consulting services for building science, building envelope, and structural rehabilitation projects.

What you will do

• Manage building envelope and restoration projects from initial investigation through completion.
• Prepare engineering design drawings and specifications for repairing and rehabilitating building envelope components and deteriorated structures.
• Conduct condition surveys, testing, and evaluations of building envelope and concrete systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
• Manage junior staff and project associates during condition assessments.
• Independently prioritize and deliver multiple small and medium-sized projects.
• Support business development across Eastern Ontario, Gatineau, and Montréal through scheduling, budgeting, tendering, contract administration, and proposal preparation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science or Engineering from an accredited university.
• At least 3 years of building science experience in a consulting or contracting environment.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license and a valid driving license required.
• Working knowledge of Ontario building codes and standards.
• Experience assessing and repairing curtain walls, windows and sealants, roof waterproofing, concrete, steel, or masonry.
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications and resolve design and field engineering problems.

Nice to have

• French oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of related engineering disciplines.
