What you will do

• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for spacecraft subsystems.
• Perform dimensional tolerance analyses accounting for thermal effects across mission environments.
• Conduct hand calculations and structural/thermal analyses to confirm fit, function, and strength.
• Coordinate with machine shop and rapid prototyping resources for hardware fabrication.
• Review mechanical designs for technical accuracy and compliance with NASA standards.
• Present design work to NASA customers during technical design reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design or aerospace engineering.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., PTC Creo, SolidWorks, NX).
• Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is required.
• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Nice to have

• 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Advanced proficiency with PTC Creo and its extensions.
• Prior experience with NASA or JSC flight hardware development.
• Familiarity with JSC Engineering Drawing System Manual (JPR 8500).
• Experience with mechanisms or robotics design for spacecraft.
