What you will do

• Lead and grow a team of backend engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and mentorship.
• Drive the technical direction for the solution space, ensuring alignment with product goals and architectural standards.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Modelling, and DevOps teams to manage interdependencies and project delivery.
• Balance hands-on technical contributions with coaching and strategic planning for the next 3 months.
• Promote a culture of rapid iteration, shipping quickly to learn and adapt based on real-world impact.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Python is required.
• Proven experience with FastAPI and Postgres.
• Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring engineering teams.
• Ability to thrive in the ambiguity of an early-stage business environment.
• Experience working in a highly collaborative, close-knit team.
• Must be based in London or able to work onsite.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with task queue management using Celery.
• Experience working with Node.js.
