What you will do

• Optimize the team’s Idea to Production cycle time and delivery predictability.
• Manage 1:1s, performance calibration, hiring, and succession planning for a squad of 6–9 engineers.
• Spend approximately 50% of time on system design and 20% on hands-on development and code reviews.
• Mediate interpersonal or cross-team conflicts to maintain team cohesion.
• Identify technical risks, fragile designs, and unrealistic project estimates.
• Lead the adoption of agentic tooling, LLM workflows, and AI automation to accelerate development.

Requirements

• Must be based in Cardiff or able to work from the Cardiff office.
• 5+ years of professional experience with recent production code shipping.
• Explicit desire to lead people while remaining an active technical contributor.
• Ability to debug production issues and perform hands-on technical work.
• Strong emotional intelligence and resilience under pressure.
• Ability to act as a technical unblocker and synthesizer of information.
