What you will do

• Own the roadmap for the CSS data platform, aligning engineering investments with agentic and AI-first product strategies.
• Establish architectural principles and governance for telemetry, semantic modeling, and metadata-driven discovery.
• Lead and grow multiple engineering teams, including managers and senior individual contributors.
• Define and uphold technical standards for distributed systems using Spark, Trino, Flink, Kafka, dbt, and Snowflake.
• Partner with VP and C-suite stakeholders to align technical execution with enterprise priorities and business outcomes.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in data or platform engineering.
• 5+ years of experience leading engineering managers and multi-team organizations.
• Deep expertise with Spark, Trino/Presto, dbt, Snowflake, and modern lakehouse architectures.
• Experience with streaming systems (Flink, Kafka) and AWS cloud infrastructure (S3, EMR, ECS, IAM).
• Strong command of semantic layers, data modeling, and enterprise metrics systems.
• Location: Must be based in San Francisco, CA or Seattle, WA.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI data engineering patterns, agentic data systems, or autonomous pipeline design.
• Familiarity with MCP, knowledge graphs, or modern metadata platforms.
• Experience designing programmatic data discovery and consumption frameworks.
