Principal Software Engineer (Quantum Computing)

TL;DR

Location: Hybrid in Boulder, CO (Must be in office at least 3 days per week)

Salary: $180,000 - $220,000

What you will do

• Design and implement software services required for simulation, compilation, and operation of the quantum computer.
• Define and evolve the backend services architecture that powers the next-generation quantum computing platform.
• Lead architectural decisions around distributed systems, service boundaries, and cloud infrastructure.
• Mentor and support engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with quantum physicists, optical engineers, and hardware engineers to shape the product roadmap.

Requirements

• Masters or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• 10+ years of post-degree experience building complex systems.
• Ability to write production software using C++, Python, Rust, or Go.
• Knowledge in computer architecture, quantum error correction, or distributed systems.
• Must be based in or be able to work from Boulder, CO.

Nice to have

• Experience building and scaling developer operations teams, including workflow automation and infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience managing and optimizing cloud or on-site databases.
• Familiarity with security best practices.
• Experience configuring physical and virtual networks.
• Experience interfacing with and controlling cameras, motors, lasers, and other third-party devices.
