TL;DR

Motor Control Designer (Automotive): Developing high-voltage motor and inverter technologies for e-Propulsion platforms with an accent on switching loss estimation and control algorithms. Focus on automating virtual models using MATLAB/Simulink and validating hardware performance through hands-on lab testing.

Location: Hybrid: Must be based in Boucherville, QC, Canada (minimum 4 days per week on-site)

What you will do

  • Automate inverter and motor switching loss estimation by integrating MATLAB/Simulink with reduced-order models.
  • Support the design, prototype development, and validation of high-voltage motor and inverter technologies.
  • Test, verify, and troubleshoot new motor control algorithms and inverter components.
  • Analyze test data to provide conclusions and correlate physical results with virtual models.
  • Report progress to executive leadership and share findings through symposium sessions.
  • Contribute to the generation of intellectual property (IP) for e-Propulsion hardware.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in motor controls, inverter design, and electric drives/machines.
  • 2+ years of hands-on laboratory experience testing high-voltage inverters and traction motors.
  • Strong knowledge of traction motor topologies (IPM, SynRM, SPM, IM) and electromagnetics.
  • Solid foundation in control system theory, including simulation and advanced design techniques.
  • Ability to work on-site in Boucherville, QC at least 4 days per week.

Nice to have

  • Experience integrating technology components to improve NVH, efficiency, and system performance.
  • Experience applying machine learning in virtual simulations.
  • Proficiency in programming languages for prototype testing automation.
  • Ability to communicate in French.
