What you will do

• Define the multi-year technical strategy and system architecture for the API Gateway and traffic management.
• Author and drive architectural decisions that become defaults across multiple engineering groups.
• Lead complex, cross-group reliability and availability efforts to reduce incident volume and improve system telemetry.
• Design and implement scalable solutions for rate-limiting, routing, and global traffic management.
• Establish engineering standards for API design and AI-assisted engineering patterns.
• Mentor engineers and act as a primary technical point of contact for leadership.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States
• 9+ years of experience in Software Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 4+ years of experience building and supporting large, high-traffic applications at scale within platform/infrastructure domains.
• 3+ years of experience leading cross-team technical initiatives and mentoring engineers.
• Proven experience delivering production software in languages such as Go, Ruby, Rust, Java, or C++.
• Exceptional written communication skills for authoring architectural decision records and technical strategy documents.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with HAProxy, Envoy, or NGINX at scale.
• Track record of driving multi-year reliability or scalability strategies with organization-wide impact.
• Experience maintaining an API Gateway or comparable critical traffic management system in production.
