Senior Data Scientist (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid work

Salary: $180,000–$230,000 annually, plus equity.

hirify.global develops a healthcare data platform that helps drug developers and patient advocacy groups identify patients with severe, complex diseases and support access to diagnoses, clinical trials, and treatments.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end development, validation, deployment, and monitoring of predictive diagnostic AI models.
• Run prospective testing experiments with undiagnosed patients, coordinate testing, and track outcomes.
• Build and maintain synthetic patient data pipelines for research and model development.
• Optimize patient intake using NLP and multimodal data analysis.
• Manage AI API usage, prompt engineering, model evaluation, cost optimization, and performance monitoring.
• Establish MLOps infrastructure, including model monitoring, drift detection, API observability, and scalable data foundations.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data science, machine learning engineering, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in Python, pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PySpark, and SQL.
• End-to-end production machine learning experience, from problem definition and feature engineering through deployment and monitoring.
• Experience with NLP techniques and applying language models to real-world problems.
• Experience with prompt engineering and evaluating external AI APIs such as OpenAI.
• Strong ownership, analytical communication, and ability to explain complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks or similar lakehouse and ML platforms.
• Familiarity with synthetic data generation, MLOps tooling, and observability infrastructure.
• Knowledge of healthcare, rare disease, genomics, clinical research, biopharma, or insurance analytics.
