Senior/Principal ML Scientist, Translational Biology (AI)

Expected base salary range: $268,000–$384,000 USD per year, with bonus potential and early-stage equity.

What you will do

• Build systems that assess whether clinical program mechanisms are established, assumed, or unexamined.
• Analyze human genetic, expression, cohort, trial, and real-world evidence to evaluate mechanism activity and relevance across patient populations.
• Assess endpoint selection, timing, biomarkers, assays, dose, schedule, eligibility, and enrichment criteria against the proposed mechanism.
• Design and run outcome-verifiable forecasts of real program progression using only information available at the prediction date.
• Co-design systems and evaluations with ML scientists, mechanism scientists, and engineers, and translate model outputs into therapeutic decisions.
• Communicate and publish findings for technical, scientific, and therapeutic audiences.

Requirements

• PhD in computational biology, translational bioinformatics, biomedical informatics, biostatistics, epidemiology, machine learning, or a related discipline focused on human biomedical data.
• Fluent Python and substantial experience analyzing human genetic, multi-omic, cohort, clinical trial, or real-world data in reproducible pipelines.
• Ability to reason mechanistically about therapeutic interventions and evaluate the evidence supporting each step.
• Working knowledge of clinical trial design, endpoints, biomarker strategy, eligibility, and enrichment.
• Ability to assess what was knowable at a given time and make evidence judgment reproducible through structured evaluation.

Nice to have

• Human genetics experience involving target identification, target validation, variants, QTL, or expression data.
• Experience with biomarker development, patient stratification, companion diagnostics, or enrichment strategies.
• Experience with clinical trial datasets, real-world data, observational cohorts, or forecasting methodology.
• Experience evaluating language models or agents on scientific judgment tasks with contamination and memorization controls.
• Familiarity with survival analysis, competing risks, calibration, GRADE, systematic reviews, or structured evidence frameworks.
