What you will do

• Analyze IRS and state tax notices and prepare accurate responses for resolution.
• Represent clients in negotiations with tax authorities to resolve penalties, notices, and audits.
• Prepare audit defense files and provide guidance to clients on audit expectations and strategies.
• Conduct technical research to identify penalty abatements and tax relief programs.
• Maintain detailed records of tax notice responses and client communications.
• Collaborate with internal tax, legal, and financial departments on resolution strategies.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Springfield, MO (On-site)
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
• Enrolled Agent (EA) certification (preferred).
• Experience in audit defense and resolving federal and state tax notices.
• Ability to use authoritative tax research tools to develop defensible strategies.
