Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Charlotte, NC, United States; hybrid

Salary: $92,000–$115,000 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs.
• Integrate AI and machine learning capabilities, including LLMs, embeddings, classification, and third-party AI services.
• Develop data pipelines and retrieval-augmented generation systems for AI workflows.
• Build services that orchestrate LLM workflows, agents, search, chat, summarization, and recommendation features.
• Improve system performance, reliability, latency, and cost efficiency in production.
• Collaborate with product, design, and other technical teams on architecture and delivery.

Requirements

• Strong programming experience in one or more of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, or Go.
• Experience building and maintaining backend systems, APIs, databases, and cloud-based applications.
• Understanding of software design principles and system architecture.
• Experience integrating AI APIs such as OpenAI or Anthropic.
• Basic understanding of prompt engineering, embeddings, vector search, model limitations, and evaluation.
• Must be able to work in the United States; work visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Production experience with AI-powered applications, vector databases, LangChain, or LlamaIndex.
• Knowledge of machine learning fundamentals, including training, fine-tuning, and evaluation.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, event-driven systems, or streaming architectures.
• Frontend experience with React or Next.js.
