Staff Software Engineer (AI Teammates Platform)

Location: San Francisco, United States; office-centric hybrid schedule with in-office days on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday

Base salary: $248,000–$282,000 per year

What you will do

• Set the technical strategy for the AI Teammates execution engine, tool orchestration, and platform APIs.
• Architect and own a composable platform foundation that enables product teams to build agentic capabilities.
• Drive standards for clean architecture, system reliability, and model evaluation methodologies.
• Partner with Engineering, Product Management, Design, Data Science, User Research, and external model providers including OpenAI and Anthropic.
• Oversee advanced proactivity, MCP integrations, model evaluations, latency tuning, and cost optimization.
• Mentor engineers, support technical growth, and coordinate high-impact initiatives.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience in large codebases, with strong backend, systems, or reliability fundamentals.
• 2+ years leading engineering teams or serving as a technical lead.
• Experience or deep interest in applied AI and agentic systems, including agent orchestration, tool integration, model evaluation, RAG, or production LLM observability.
• Strong project management experience covering timeline planning, risk mitigation, stakeholder management, and coordination.
• Experience mentoring engineers and providing thoughtful, candid feedback.
• Ability to work in the San Francisco office under an office-centric hybrid schedule.
