Salary: $205,000 – $261,500 per year

What you will do

• Lead the team building the core computation layer powering payroll, money movement, and tax calculation products.
• Act as a player-coach, overseeing a team of software engineers while maintaining hands-on technical involvement.
• Partner with Product and Design to define the team’s long-term strategy and quarterly roadmap.
• Drive technical decision-making to scale money movement capabilities and improve financial ledger integrity.
• Mentor engineers to foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to coordinate project execution and ship new features quickly.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a software engineer working on production web applications.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience managing a team of engineers.
• Must be based in or able to work from the New York City office (Hybrid).
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and common architectural patterns.
• Demonstrable experience in prioritizing, crafting, and achieving complex technical plans.
• Strong communication skills and high levels of empathy for cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with Golang, Ruby on Rails, Javascript, MySQL, Kafka, AWS, and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of Docker, Terraform, Redis, ElasticSearch, and DataDog.
