Principal Software Engineer (Fullstack)

TL;DR

Principal Software Engineer (Fullstack): Designing and owning technical architecture for a retail forecasting platform and an AI-native onboarding system with an accent on scalability, reliability, and distributed systems. Focus on building production-grade AWS infrastructure, optimizing PostgreSQL performance, and integrating emerging AI workflows.

Location: Must be based in the US (preferred). Ability to travel onsite approximately once per month. NYC is a plus.

What you will do

• Own technical architecture and system design across two core retail planning platforms.
• Ensure production stability and maintain a fast release cadence as the platform scales.
• Define and document architectural decisions regarding consolidation and system hardening.
• Implement observability, runbooks, and engineering guardrails for a maturing platform.
• Mentor the team through code reviews, pairing, and clear written technical decisions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Must be based in the US (preferred).
• Deep expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, React, and Next.js.
• Advanced PostgreSQL knowledge including schema design, performance tuning, and multi-tenant systems.
• Extensive experience with AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, ECS Fargate, SQS/EventBridge, RDS).
• Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, CDK, or OpenTofu.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go or Python in production environments.
• Exposure to LLM and agentic systems (Bedrock, OpenAI, Anthropic).
• Background in retail, inventory, supply chain, or forecasting systems.
• Experience building data-heavy or operational planning tools.
