What you will do
- Define and lead a data governance strategy that protects customers and enables business confidence.
- Build foundational program elements including ownership models, data standards, and classification.
- Champion governance-as-code by embedding policies and quality rules directly into data pipelines.
- Collaborate with data engineers to operationalize governance through catalog and observability tools.
- Create a data product model that packages critical datasets as well-governed, accessible assets.
- Ensure responsible use of AI by making data traceable, well-understood, and fit for purpose.
Requirements
- 6–10 years of experience in data governance or data management with a track record of building programs.
- Strong command of data quality, metadata management, lineage, classification, and access control.
- Technical fluency to express governance standards in code, such as schema contracts and pipeline quality rules.
- Hands-on experience with modern data catalog or observability tools like Secoda, Monte Carlo, or Alation.
- Must be based in or able to relocate to Austin, TX.
- Ability to communicate complex data issues to risk, legal, and compliance leadership.
Nice to have
- Experience in insurance or highly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with CCPA, state DOI requirements, or similar compliance frameworks.
