Junior Software Engineer (Backend)

Location: Budapest, Hungary; hybrid schedule with 3 days in-office

What you will do

• Design and develop backend systems that help advertisers manage budgets and optimize campaign performance.
• Build scalable and reliable solutions for processing and analyzing large volumes of real-time data.
• Contribute to a high-throughput recommendation system used by millions of users worldwide.
• Design, build, ship, measure, and maintain advertiser-facing products end to end.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product managers on impactful solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of professional software development experience.
• Backend development experience with Java or an equivalent object-oriented language.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and clean code practices.
• Technical English proficiency required.
• Experience with AI tools, core AI concepts, and Agile/Scrum practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with Spring and Kafka.
• Experience with JavaScript and React.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, Vertica, or Cassandra.
